Ong Lang Beach Phu Quoc: Best Peaceful Beach to Visit During the Rainy Season?

Ong Lang Beach Phu Quoc

If you’ve read our earlier article about Phu Quoc, you’ll know this is our second time visiting the island. This time, we came during August, right in the middle of the rainy season. It’s definitely not the best time for beach hopping, but we still wanted to explore what Ong Lang Beach Phu Quoc had to offer in this quieter season.

Ong Lang Beach – A Quiet Escape on Phu Quoc Island

Ong Lang Beach Phu Quoc is one of the more peaceful beaches on the island, located on the west coast. It’s known for being less crowded than Long Beach or Sao Beach, and it offers both public access areas and resort-owned beachfronts.

During this trip, we waited for a break in the rain and decided to check it out. But just as we arrived, the rain started again. Even with the grey skies and wet sand, the beach still had a calm, local charm to it.

Imagine Visiting Ong Lang Beach Phu Quoc dry season…

While standing under a tree, sheltering from the rain, I couldn’t help but imagine how beautiful Ong Lang Beach must be during the dry season. A friend of mine who lives on the island even showed me photos of the beach in peak travel season—and wow, what a difference!

She told me that when it’s not raining, the sea is clear and blue, perfect for swimming and relaxing. Sometimes, she even goes diving here and has seen coral and small fish close to shore.

What to Expect if You Visit in August

  • Big waves & moody weather: The monsoon season brings strong waves and cloudy skies. The sea can look murky, and it’s not ideal for swimming.

  • Quiet and peaceful: On the bright side, the beach is nearly empty. Perfect for a walk, reading, or just listening to the ocean.

  • Local vibes: We stayed near a local village and had a chance to chat with some friendly locals who shared tips and hidden spots to see nearby.

Final Thoughts from Our Rainy Season Visit

While Ong Lang Beach wasn’t at its best this time around, it still gave us a sense of what makes this spot special. If you’re planning to visit Phu Quoc in the travel season (December–April), this beach should definitely be on your list. It’s the kind of place where you can swim, snorkel, and relax without the crowds.
