My Khe Beach Da Nang review: What is My Khe Beach

Yes, My Khe Beach is completely free to enter. From our experience, it’s one of the best beaches we’ve visited outside of Thailand. This blog gives you a full My Khe Beach Da Nang review, so you can decide if it belongs on your next trip. My Khe Beach isn’t just about the white sand. It’s about the whole experience around it. My Khe Beach Da Nang

My Khe Beach sits along Vo Nguyen Giap Street in the Son Tra District. It’s only about 3–5 kilometers from Da Nang city center. Forbes Magazine once named it one of the six most beautiful beaches in the world, and once you walk onto the sand, you’ll understand why. The water is calm, clear, and warm most of the year. The beach itself is long enough that even on a busy day, you can still find a quiet spot.

My Khe Beach Da Nang : Our experience

For this article, we’ll talk about our experience once we flew from Bangkok to Da Nang to visit My Khe Beach. First of all, we took a direct flight from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The flight only took around 1 hour 40 minutes, which surprised us. It felt shorter than some domestic Thailand flights. We landed in Da Nang in the afternoon and went straight to the beach area near our hotel.

We went around 4 pm that day, and the timing was perfect because the sun wasn’t too strong anymore. Also the beach wasn’t crowded, so we easily found a spot near the water. We’ll guide you through our experience here, step by step.

Is there an entry fee for My Khe Beach?

This is something a lot of travelers ask us. In some countries, Egypt, for example, you might have to pay just to swim at certain beaches. However, at My Khe Beach, you’re free to walk, swim, and set up your mat on the sand without any charge. Don’t worry, if you don’t want to pay for anything, you don’t have to. The only costs are optional, like renting a beach chair or umbrella. This usually costs around 30,000–100,000 VND. A freshwater shower is a small extra fee, around 10,000–20,000 VND.

Best time to visit My Khe Beach Da Nang

Here is what we found from our experience:

  • Early morning (5 am – 8 am): Best for sunrise views and a peaceful walk. Many locals do group exercise on the sand at this time.
  • Late afternoon (4 pm – 6 pm): Most comfortable time for swimming, since the sun isn’t too strong.
  • March – September: Best season overall, with calmer water and less rain.
  • October – December: Rainy season. Waves can be so stronger than another month, and some water sport activities may be limited.

Is My Khe Beach good for swimming?

Yes, the water at My Khe Beach is generally calm. This makes it good for swimming, especially compared to some more wave-heavy beaches in Vietnam. Families with children usually stay in the shallow area, closer to the lifeguard towers. That said, always check the flag warnings. Currents can get stronger during rainy season.
