Pattaya has a tropical climate. This means it is warm year-round. There are three main seasons:

Temperatures during the cool season are around 25-30°C (77-86°F). There is very little rain. The sea is calm and perfect for swimming. The air feels fresh and it is not too humid.
November in Pattaya
November marks the start of the cool season. The rain from October begins to stop and the weather becomes much more comfortable. It is a great month to visit, fewer crowds than December but already great weather. Jomtien Beach and Dongtan Beach are beautiful at this time of year.
Temperature in Pattaya in December
December is one of the most popular months. Christmas and New Year bring many tourists. The weather is excellent cool evenings, sunny days.
January in Pattaya
January is peak season. This is the coolest month of the year. Perfect for spending a full day at the beach or visiting The Sanctuary of Truth. The sea is calm also a great time for a Koh Larn one day trip.
February in Pattaya
February is still excellent. Warm, sunny and not too hot. Great for outdoor activities, beach days and island trips. Toward the end of February it starts to get slightly warmer.
From our experience: If you can only visit once, come between late November and early February. This is when Pattaya is at its best.
Hot Season in Pattaya : March to May
The hot season is when Pattaya gets very warm. This is not the most comfortable time for most travelers, but it is still possible to enjoy the city. And it has some advantages.
What is the weather like?
Temperatures rise to 32–35°C (90–95°F) and even higher in April. It is humid and the sun is very strong. There are occasional short rain showers, especially in May.
March in Pattaya
March is transitioning from cool to hot. It is still okay for beach activities but noticeably warmer than February. Fewer tourists than December–February so prices are lower and the beach is less crowded.
April in Pattaya
Songkran Festival April is the hottest month of the year. But it is also one of the most fun months to visit if you enjoy Songkran, the Thai New Year water festival. There are big water fights and celebrations across Pattaya. The heat is intense but the festival atmosphere is amazing.
May in Pattaya
May is the transition into the rainy season. The heat starts to drop a little. Short rain showers begin to appear. It is a good time to visit if you want low prices and fewer tourists.
From our experience: The hot season is not the best time for beach lovers. But if you want to save money and do not mind the heat, March and May are actually quite reasonable.
Rainy Season in Pattaya : June to October
Many travelers avoid the rainy season but we think it gets a bad reputation. Yes, it rains but usually it is short afternoon showers, not full-day storms. And it has some real advantages.

Temperatures are around 28–32°C (82–90°F). It is warm but not as brutal as the hot season. Rain comes mostly in the afternoon or evening. Mornings are often sunny and nice. Humidity is higher.
June in Pattaya
June is the start of rainy season but in our experience it is not too bad. Mornings are often clear. You get afternoon showers. Hotels are cheaper. The beach is less crowded. A great time for budget travelers.
July in Pattaya
Similar to June. Rain comes and goes. If you stay flexible with your plans you can still enjoy beaches, markets and restaurants. Thepprasit Night Market and Jomtien Night Market are still lively in the evening.
August in Pattaya
August is comfortable and still manageable. A good time to visit Pattaya if you want a quiet, relaxed trip.
September in Pattaya
September and October are the wettest months. The rain can be heavier and more frequent. The sea can also get rougher, so Koh Larn ferry trips may be less enjoyable. We suggest checking the weather each day and planning accordingly.
October in Pattaya
October is still in the rainy season but by late October the rain begins to ease and the cool season starts to arrive. If you visit in late October you may be lucky with the weather.
From our experience: June to August is actually a very good time to visit for budget travelers. You can get great hotel deals, the city is quieter and the rain usually does not ruin the whole day.

Is Pattaya Worth Visiting in the Rainy Season?
This is a common question. The answer is yes, with the right expectations.
From our experience, the rainy season in Pattaya is not like a tropical storm all day. Usually the morning is sunny. The rain comes in the afternoon for 1–2 hours and then it stops. After the rain the air is fresh and cool, which actually feels very nice.
The big advantages are:
- Hotel prices are lower sometimes 30–50% cheaper
- The beaches and attractions are not crowded
- The city feels more relaxed and local
- Restaurants and markets are still open and busy
The disadvantages are:
- The sea can be rougher island trips to Koh Larn may not be ideal
- Outdoor activities need more planning
- September and October can have heavy rain for several days in a row
No matter when you come, Pattaya will have beaches, food, markets and nightlife waiting for you. We hope this guide helps you plan the perfect trip.
