Many locals come here to pray and make offerings. Tourists visit for the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning sea view from the top. It is one of the most special places to visit on Ko Si Chang Thailand.

Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine Koh Sichang: From Our Experiences

We walked from our resort directly to the shrine no scooter, no taxi, just a nice easy walk. Koh Sichang Chonburi is a very relaxed island with almost no busy traffic. That makes it very comfortable and safe to walk around. We really enjoyed the quiet streets and fresh sea air on the way there.

The walk itself is one of the highlights of the visit. You pass through a small local neighborhood with simple houses and friendly people. It feels nothing like the busy streets of Pattaya. This is one of those rare experiences that you will remember long after your trip.

Is There an Entry Fee for Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine?

No, the Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine has no entry fee at all. You can walk in for free. There is also no fee to use the cable car that is completely free too. However, there is a donation box near the entrance for electricity costs. It is totally up to you if you want to donate. We think it is a nice gesture to leave a small amount to help maintain this wonderful place.

The Cable Car : Should You Take It?

Yes there is a cable car at Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine that takes you up the hill to the temple. It is free to use and a fun little experience. But we decided to walk up instead, and we are really glad we did. The walk up the stairs gives you time to look around, enjoy the decorations, and take photos along the way.

The stairs are decorated with dragon statues and colorful Chinese-style carvings. Each step brings you a little closer to the top and the view gets better with every step. If you have any difficulty walking, the Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine cable car is a great option. Otherwise, we recommend walking up at least one way to see all the details.

We recommend visiting in the late afternoon around 4:00–5:00 PM. At that time, the light is soft and golden. The sea view from the top is absolutely beautiful at sunset. Also, it is less hot compared to midday, which makes the walk up much more enjoyable.

Chao Pho Khao Yai Shrine How to Get There

Getting to this Chinese shrine on Koh Sichang is very simple. The island is small and easy to navigate. Here are the main ways to get there:

• Walking If your accommodation is near the pier area, you can easily walk. The roads are quiet and flat near the town. Then there is a short climb up to the temple.

• Tuk Tuk (Sky lap) You can also flag one of the local Tuk Tuk  that drive around the island. They are very affordable and the drivers know the shrine well.

What to See at the Chinese Temple Koh Sichang

Once you arrive at the koh sichang temple, there is a lot to look at. The architecture is classic Chinese style with red and gold colors everywhere. Here is what we noticed during our visit:

• Dragon statues along the staircase going up the hill
• Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) statue near the top very beautiful and peaceful
• Sea view platform at the summit you can see the ocean and nearby islands
• Prayer hall with incense and offerings from local devotees
• Small cave shrines tucked into the hillside with colorful figurines

The whole compound is very calm and spiritual. Even if you are not religious, it is still a wonderful place to walk around and take photos. The combination of colorful Chinese temple design and the natural hilltop setting makes it truly unique.

Tips Before You Visit Chao Por khao yai Koh Sichang

Absolutely yes. This Chinese shrine on Koh Sichang is one of the best free things to do on the island. It costs nothing to enter, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the view from the top is spectacular. Whether you take the cable car or walk up the stairs, the experience is memorable.

We walked the whole way from our resort and it was one of our favorite moments on Ko Si Chang. The quiet roads, the colorful temple, and the sea view at the top it all comes together perfectly. Do not miss this one when you visit Koh Sichang Chonburi.
