Chiangmai to Bangkok Train: Our First Class Experience
If you’re planning a journey Thailand, taking the Chiangmai to Bangkok train is one of the most relaxing and scenic ways to travel between these two iconic cities. In this article, we share our real experience riding the train in First Class, offering insights for travelers looking for a comfortable and unforgettable journey across Thailand.
Why Take the Train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok?
Many people choose to fly, but traveling by train offers a different kind of adventure — slower, scenic, and more comfortable. It’s a great way to experience the real Thailand while saving on one night of hotel stay if you choose the overnight train. We traveled from Chiangmai to Bangkok by daytime train.
Our First Class Train Cabin: Clean, Private & Comfortable
We chose the First Class sleeper cabin, which provides a train private room with space for one or two people. It was perfect for comfort, privacy, and peace of mind.
Chiangmai to Bangkok Train Cabin Highlights:
- Private compartment with lockable door
- Large sofa-style seat that converts into a comfortable bed
- Clean bed sheets, soft blanket, and fluffy pillow
- At night, a train officer comes in to prepare your bed for sleeping
- In the morning, the officer will convert the bed back into a sofa, getting you ready for arrival
The bed was surprisingly soft for a train. We felt clean and cozy the entire night, and it was easy to sleep even while the train moved.
Facilities: Toilet, Sink & Shower
First Class passengers also have access to shared bathrooms. After waking up, we could take a warm shower before arriving.
Day and Night Train Travel
Traveling by day lets you enjoy beautiful views of rice fields, hills, and local villages from your window. The overnight train is great for saving time and money. You sleep through the journey and wake up in a new city.
Chiangmai to Bangkok Train : How to Book Your Train Ticket?
Booking is easy:
- Online via the State Railway of Thailand
- At the station in Chiang Mai or Bangkok
- Through travel agents or hotels
We highly recommend booking First Class in advance — it sells out quickly, especially on weekends and holidays.
