Da Nang Vietnam accommodation review: what 9 real stays taught us

Accommodation in Da Nang. Most people plan a trip to Da Nang and just book whatever hotel shows up first on Booking.com. We think that is a big mistake. Over the last six months we actually stayed in 9 different accommodations across Da Nang hotels, serviced apartments in Da Nang, and Airbnb-style rentals, and we are going to show you exactly what we paid, what went wrong, and which area is really worth your money.

How much does accommodation in DaNang really cost?

This is a common question because Da Nang prices can swing a lot depending on the season, the building, and whether you book monthly or nightly. From our experience:

  • Monthly rental: $350 – $800 USD per month
  • Short stay / nightly rate: approximately $30 – $60 USD per night
  • Prices go up noticeably during Vietnamese holidays, Tet, and peak tourist season, and inflation has also been pushing rates higher recently

Also, prices are not fixed, the same room type can cost differently depending on the platform you book through, which we will explain below.

Where to stay in Da Nang?

Well, as I said, Da Nang isn’t just about picking any hotel near the airport. From our experience, Mỹ Khê Beach is the best location, and here is why:

  • Walking distance to the beach and the beachside path
  • Close to restaurants, cafes, and the An Thuong area nightlife
  • Easy Grab access to Dragon Bridge and the city center
  • Quieter than the city center, but still very convenient

We tested locations closer to the airport and further from the beach too, and honestly, Mỹ Khê Beach area (also called My An) gave us the best balance every single time.

Our 9 accommodations in Da Nang, what we experienced

Here are some accommodations from our experience, with the honest good and bad from each one:

My Suites Hotel & Apartment Our first stay after landing at DAD airport. Good base to start exploring, apartment-style room with basic kitchen.

Gió Biển 2 Hotel We booked this hotel on Booking.com two months before we move in, but on the day we go to checkin, the hotel just said sorry, the room you booked is not available, and they try to give us the small room instead. This is one thing you should know before you book, always confirm your room type again a few days before check-in, because this can happen even with a confirmed booking.

Rich Hotel Da Nang This is where we ran into our first tourist scam, and it also happened to be around Valentine’s Day, which made it worse. We’ll explain what to watch for below.

Ocean Haven Hotel Da Nang One of the longer stays in our trip. Solid mid-range option close to the beach.

Orange Hotel Danang Comfortable stay, good for travelers who want something reliable without overpaying. However, we got the noisy and smell from cooking from our next door, and the hotel can’t control that. If you are sensitive to noise or smell, this is something worth asking about before you book.

HH Apartment Da Nang Apartment-style, more space, good if you are staying longer than a week.

Saluton Hotel Da Nang You can check more details on our Youtube.

SOCO Hotel Da Nang Central, easy to get around from, good value.

Happy Apartments Da Nang Our final and longest stay. We explain why we specifically arranged a rented apartment here instead of a hotel, plus a full breakdown of the common areas and our overall evaluation.

Tourist scams and Airbnb reviews, what to watch out for

This is one of the most important parts of this article. Also you can avoid most of these problems if you know what to look for before you book:

  • Some hosts on Airbnb delete or hide negative reviews before new guests can see them, always check the review dates and read recent ones carefully
  • Some places advertise photos that don’t match the real room, so always cross-check with recent guest photos, not just the host’s photos
  • We personally ran into a tourist scam around Valentine’s Day at one of the hotels above, watch the video for the full story because it’s a good example of what to look out for

Booking, Airbnb, or contact the building directly, which is better?

We get asked this a lot. From our experience:

  • Booking.com / Agoda: Best for short stays, easy cancellation, and clear pricing upfront
  • Airbnb: Can be good value for longer stays, but check reviews carefully because of the issue mentioned above
  • Contacting the building directly: Often the cheapest option for monthly stays once you already know the area, but it requires more research and sometimes a bit of Vietnamese or a translation app

If you’re only staying a few nights, Booking or Agoda is simpler. If you’re staying a month or longer like we did in Happy Apartments, contacting the building directly usually saves the most money.

Getting from Da Nang Airport (DAD) to your accommodation

  • Grab taxi is the easiest option straight from arrivals, we cover this in the video too
  • Get a Vietnamese SIM card at the airport before you leave, it makes booking Grab and checking Airbnb messages much easier
  • Also you can exchange money at the airport exchange offices, though rates in the city center are sometimes slightly better

Is Da Nang accommodation worth the price?

Yes. Compared to other beach destinations in Southeast Asia, Da Nang gives you a lot for $350–$800 a month. The rooms, the beach access, and the food all felt like better value than similar coastal cities we’ve stayed in. Just don’t book blindly, check the area first, and always double check reviews before paying anything upfront.
