Most visitors spend the whole day inside the Hoi An Old Town, between the market, the yellow houses and the busy riverfront. We wanted a place with a river view and no crowd. This blog gives you our Hidden River Cafe review, with the location, how to get there and what to expect.

What is Hidden River Cafe Hoi An?

Hidden River Cafe is a small riverside cafe on the quieter side of Hoi An. You can sit, order a drink or food, and look at the water without the noise of the tourist streets. It also sits well in a day plan: we came here after walking around the Old Town and stopping at Hoi An Roastery. Once we stepped inside, the cafe had a local feel. A big, cute dog welcomed us warmly. The seating area is at the back of the cafe, so you can sit right next to the river view. The coffee and cake were good.

How to get there from Hoi An Old Town

Hidden River Cafe is on Cua Dai Road, outside the walking area of the Old Town.

You have these options:

Order a Grab or Bolt car or bike. This is the easiest way.
Rent a bicycle or scooter. Cua Dai Road is a normal road, so be careful with traffic.
Walk, if the weather is not too hot. We did a long walk that day at 40°C (104°F), and it was hard work.

Is Hidden River Cafe worth visiting?

From our experience: yes, if you want a calm place by the water. It is not a place for shopping, nightlife or a big meal.

Good for: a rest after walking, a quiet river view, a break from the crowd
Not good for: people who want to stay inside the Old Town
Also nice: If you the dog lover, here is very nice to go.
