We were walking along Pham Van Dong Beach around five in the afternoon. That’s when we smelled grilled seafood before we even saw the crowd. Turns out we had walked straight into the opening parade of the Da Nang Food Festival. We didn’t plan our day around it. We just got lucky with the timing.

Our experience at the festival

We arrived just in time for the “Flavours of Da Nang” parade. It’s genuinely worth planning your visit around. Picture over 70 food carts moving along the beach road. Cyclos loaded with baskets of local dishes. Vendors calling out the way they would in a real neighborhood market, not a staged show. It felt less like a tourist event and more like the whole city’s food culture packed into one street.

The next evening we went back for the opening ceremony at East Sea Park. This is where the festival leans into performance. Music, lighting, and live cooking demonstrations tell the story of how Quang cuisine developed over generations. We’re not usually big on staged shows. This one earned it, the food and the storytelling actually connected.

From there, we spent most of our time at the main food space. We tried Banh Mi. Portions were generous. Prices stayed reasonable. Nothing felt inflated for tourists.
