Which Bus Stations Go to Pattaya from Bangkok?

There are two main bus stations in Bangkok where you can take a bus to Pattaya. The most popular one is Ekkamai (Eastern Bus Terminal). If you are staying in central Bangkok near Sukhumvit Road, this is the easiest option for you the BTS Skytrain stops right outside the terminal at Ekkamai station.

The second option is Mo Chit in northern Bangkok, which is good if you are coming from the northern part of the city or from Don Mueang Airport.

There is also a bus stop at Bangna on the way out of Bangkok. If you are staying near the Bangna area, you can board the bus there.

Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya (Direct)

If you just landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport, you do not need to go into Bangkok first. There is a direct bus from Suvarnabhumi Airport straight to North Pattaya and Jomtien Beach which is very convenient.

How Long is the Bus from Bangkok to Pattaya?

The journey time is around 2 hours 30 minutes from Ekkamai or Mo Chit. From Suvarnabhumi Airport, it is faster around 2 hours because the airport is already on the east side of Bangkok, closer to Pattaya.

And this importance to keep in mind that traffic can make it longer, especially on Friday evenings or during Thai public holidays. From our experience, the best time to travel is in the morning on a weekday.

Where Does the Bus Arrive in Pattaya?

All buses from Bangkok arrive at North Pattaya Bus Station on North Pattaya Road. The Suvarnabhumi direct bus drops passengers at  North Pattaya Bus Station and Jomtien.

From the North Pattaya Bus Station, you can:

  • Take a baht bus (songthaew) around 10–40 THB depending on your destination
  • Order a Grab or Bolt car from the app
  • Take a motorbike taxi for short distances

Our Tips for Taking the Bus from Bangkok to Pattaya

From our experience, here are a few things that will make your journey smoother:

  • Bring a light jacket or sweater the air conditioning on Thai buses can be very cold
  • Book online in advance at rrcticket.com especially for weekends
  • Arrive 20–30 minutes early at the bus station to find your platform and store your luggage
  • Only hand luggage is allowed inside the bus larger bags and suitcases go in the compartment under the bus
