This headland is best known as the home of Talu Cave also called Tham Chakraphong or Tham Talu in Thai. The cave passes completely through the limestone rock from one side to the other. That is where the name “Talu” comes from it means “to pierce through.” When you stand inside the cave, you can see daylight from the other end. And when you climb up and out from the top, the view over the sea is something very special.
You may also see this place written as Laem Tham Pang in some older maps and guides this refers to the same general southern headland area of the island.

Laem Chakrabongse Koh Si Chang From Our Experience
For this article, we will talk about our experience once we went to visit Laem Chakrabongse on Koh Si Chang. First of all, we rented a scooter and rode toward the southern part of the island. We will guide you through our experience here step by step.
The road leading to Laem Chakrabongse takes you away from the busy pier area very quickly. After just a few minutes on the scooter, the island feels quiet and completely different. The landscape changes you start to see rocky hills, trees, and the sea peeking between the cliffs.
Once we parked and walked toward the headland, the first thing we noticed is that the entrance to the cave has changed from what you see from our first visited. Tourism has shaped this place. Some new structures have appeared near the cave mouth.
We walked the full cave from one entrance to the other. Inside, some sections are dark, so always becareful every steps of your. The cave ceiling is high enough to walk comfortably in most areas, but the rock floor is uneven and can be slippery in some parts especially if it has been raining recently.
The most exciting part It was when we discovered areas that are not part of our last visit.We climbed out from the top of the cave and looked down at the headland and the sea from above. That view the rocks, the coastline, the open water made the whole trip completely worth it. Please be careful if you try to do this. The rocks are steep in places and there are no safety railings. Always watch your footing and do not go alone.

Is There an Entry Fee for Laem Chakrabongse?
This is a common question. From our experience, there is no official entry fee to visit Laem Chakrabongse or Talu Cave. The area is open and free to explore during daylight hours. However, always carry some cash just in case local caretakers sometimes manage popular spots like this and the situation can change.
How to Get to Laem Chakrabongse Koh Si Chang

Also you can hire a Skylab the local 3-wheel open-air taxi from the pier and ask the driver to take you to Laem Chakrabongse or Talu Cave.
Step 3 Walk to the cave Once you park near the headland, follow the path down on foot toward the cave entrance. The walk from the parking area is short just a few minutes.

From our experience, Laem Chakrabongse is accessible during daylight hours only. We strongly recommend visiting in the morning or early afternoon.

Is Laem Chakrabongse Worth Visiting?
Yes, absolutely. This is one of those places on Koh Si Chang that feels like a real discovery. Most tourists who visit the island spend their time at the palace, the cliff walkway, or the beach. Very few make it all the way to Laem Chakrabongse. That is exactly what makes it special.
The combination of the cave, the rocky headland, and the sea view from above makes for an experience that is hard to find anywhere else on the island. It is not a polished tourist attraction. It is raw, natural, and slightly adventurous and that is the best kind of travel.
