Exploring the Northeast of Phu Quoc: A Peaceful Side of the Island
When people search for things to do in Phu Quoc, most results talk about the south, Duong Dong night market, or Sao Beach. But if you’re looking for something different and less touristic, the northeast of Phu Quoc is your perfect escape.
We’ve stayed in Phu Quoc for a long time and this time we decided to explore the northeast part of the island—especially during the rainy season. What we found was truly special.
What Makes Northeast Phu Quoc Worth Visiting?
Unlike the busy beaches in the south or the trendy resorts, the northeast of PhuQuoc is calm, quiet, and filled with nature. The roads are surrounded by green trees, and the sea here is so clear and blue, even on a cloudy day.
We took our scooter and rode through the long winding roads. It felt like a true island adventure. There were hardly any tourists, and most places were just peaceful and real.
The Rainy Season Experience
We explored the northeast of Phu Quoc during the rainy season. The weather changed quickly—from sunshine to light rain—but that didn’t stop us. In fact, riding in the light rain gave the trip a refreshing feel.
One thing to note: we got super hungry on the road. Google Maps showed that there were some restaurants along the way, but most of them were closed when we got there. So, if you’re planning to explore this part of Phu Quoc, bring some snacks just in case!

Final Thoughts from Our Experience
We loved every moment exploring this quiet side of the island. It’s not about luxury or beach bars—it’s about nature, simplicity, and discovery.
So next time you search for unique places to visit in Phu Quoc, don’t forget about the northeast of Phu Quoc. Sometimes the best memories come from places not on the main travel guides.
